Day 42

I gave up blogging every day as I really had nothing to report. I have had (essentially) no issues at all stepping down as of yet and today starts 20mg, 24 hours apart. I have halved my dose and I am very happy with how it’s going. Every so often I have a bubbly sensation, usually just before a dose is due, but it’s not consistent. Once or twice I have had an awareness that my acid was a bit high, but not pain or reflux. It’s been WAY easier than I expected and I am thrilled!

I spoke to my GP last week and asked if I could start to speed up the pace by pushing out 6 or 8 hours and he recommended to stay with this pace. Which frustrates but as long as I don’t conceive, I will stick to for now.

Day 17

Dosage: 20mg every 16 hours

Diet: normal + ACV

Pain: tummy feels slightly tender but otherwise OK

Reflux: no

Exercise: AM yoga + ceilidh dancing tonight! :)

Day 16

I slept through the night with no issues but my tummy was a bit tender this morning. No pain or reflux today, although I just ate the leftover curry. I was counting out my hours for the next planned step down (20 hours) and found that I will be stuck waking up in the middle of the night for that configuration so now I am re-thinking 16 hours. Maybe I should just push to 18 hours and deal with it?? Hmm.

Dosage: 20mg every 16 hours

Diet: normal + ACV and leftover curry

Pain:  negligible

Reflux: no

Exercise: yoga AM

Day Fifteen

I’ve had to skip a few days of blogging as I was on holiday in Cairo, but the remainder of the first 2 week stepdown was uneventful. My timings were not exactly perfect when I was away due to the 2 hour time difference as well as not always having easy access to water. So for the past 5 days I have been taking my pills roughly every 12 hours. Today was my first day at 16 hours apart, which I decided would be a more reasonable step than 18 hours as I had no intention of getting up in the middle of some nights to take a pill. I took my last does at 1PM today with the dose prior to that at 9PM last night. As I write (at almost 9PM), I am having a bit of pain and reflux, but it’s tolerable. I was not thinking and made chickpea curry for dinner, which I am sure is not helping matters, but it’s done. I have Gaviscon if it gets too bad.

Dosage: 20 mg, every 16 hours

Diet: normal + curry for dinner + ACV

Pain: +1

Reflux: +1

Exercise: PM yoga

Days Seven & Eight

Dosage: 20mg, 12 hours apart

Diet: normal but heavier than usual on rich/spicy food

Pain: none

Reflux: none

Exercise: yoga AM

Days Five and Six

Dosage: 20mg, 12 hours apart

Diet: normal

Pain: no

Reflux: no

Exercise:  Sunday cycled ~20 miles

Body seems to have adjusted quickly/completely to this step. Am hesitant to push it forward though as I am traveling this coming weekend and don’t need the extra hassle of potential adjustment issues. Will stay on track for 2 weeks at this dosage timing.

Day Four

Dosage: 20mg, 12 hours apart

Diet: normal

Pain:  no

Reflux:  no

Exercise: no

Day Three

Dosage:  20mg, 12 hrs apart

Diet: see below

Pain: no

Reflux: +1

Exercise: AM yoga

Yesterday Saj gave me a small portion of potato and courgette curry, which I had at 4PM with some brown rice. It was rather spicy/greasy. I had some ACV around 7. At 8PM I went for a jog and had some mild reflux but no real pain. I went to bed with the Gaviscon on my nightstand prepared to do battle at 3AM but thankfully, I slept through the night with no issues.  This is good because I’d rather not have to change my diet drastically whilst I do this, and then be fearful of reintroducing foods later.

Day Two

Dosage: 20mg 9PM last night, 20mg 9AM

Diet: Did not have heavy/late dinner last night. Slice plain wholemeal toast ~hour before bedtime. Otherwise normal today.

Pain: was awoken around 3AM with mild pain and reflux- short round of insomnia.  No issues during day.

Reflux: see above

Exercise: yoga AM, jog PM

Day One

No issues besides having a terrible headache, which is rather nonspecific and more likely just a lack of sleep. :)

Dosage: 20mg at 9PM last night and 20mg at 9AM this morning.

Diet: normal+ACV (apple cider vinegar) before each meal

Pain: no

Reflux: no

Exercise: AM yoga
